November Peak Season Air Freight Demand Up 8.8%

Geneva – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), climbed 8.8% in November 2017 compared to the year-earlier period. This was an increase from the 5.8% annual growth recorded in October 2017. Despite indicators pointing to air cargo having passed a cyclical growth peak, demand remains strong. The US Transport Security Administration has brought in a new set of rules for air cargo coming from five Muslim-majority Middle Eastern nations.
Cargo planes headed to the US from Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will all face additional screening. Read more here.Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner Cleared For Service

Boeing has received amended type certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration for the 787-10 Dreamliner, clearing the aircraft for commercial service.

Maersk Signs Up to the New York Shipping Exchange

Maersk Line has become the sixth container carrier to sign up the groundbreaking New York Shipping Exchange (NYSHEX).

Homes and businesses near a Canadian Pacific Railway yard in Port Coquitlam, B.C., were evacuated after a truck and a train car collided Monday night, sparking a large fire.The 6:35 p.m. PT collision caused no injuries, the City of Port Coquitlam said in a statement, and Canadian Pacific says there are no toxic materials on the train.
