    Yang Ming Upgrades Southeast Asia Service

    Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (YM) will deploy two bigger container ships of 2,800TEU in its Southeast Asia Service (SEA service) effective from 20th April 2018 to provide customers with better service. The calling port rotation is Port Kelang – Singapore – Jakarta – Surabaya – Panjang – Jakarta – Port Kelang with a round voyage of 14 days.  Read more here.

    NYK becomes world’s first shipping line to offer green bonds

    Next month Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisah (NYK) will become the first shipping line in the world to offer green bonds to raise capital.  Read more here.
    Hopes run high that US east coast dock talks will end in June contract

    HOPES are high that the US east and Gulf coast dock labour talks will result in a final contract when the union and employers meet on June 5.
    While the current contract does not expire until September 30, shippers are threatening to use west coast ports to avoid cargo handling go-slows and lockouts that typified 11th hour dock talks before a west coast contract was signed last year.  Read more here.

    Canadian Pacific warns of possible trans-Canada railway strike Saturday

    CALGARY-BASED Canadian Pacific (CP) issued a warning of a possible trans-Canada rail strike as early as this Saturday, April 21.
    A strike will severely impact CP’s ability to continue to freight and passenger service, the company said. All customers and commodities would be impacted at a time when demand is soaring, according to the company statement.   Read more here.
    US truckers get pay boost to spur recruitment to meet shortfall

    US truck drivers are receiving higher salaries as carriers nationwide strive to recruit and retain drivers, according to a survey by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) of 100,000 drivers for its Drive Compensation study.  Read more here.
