IATA: Walsh Demands Shared Responsibility On Air Traffic Control Meltdowns

Last summer, airlines were forced to cancel over 1,500 flights due to the failure of the UK’s air navigation service provider, NATS. Thousands of passengers were left stranded or found travel plans thrown into chaos, with airline schedules taking a whole week to return to normal. Read more here.

Air cargo traffic increased year on year for the third month in a row in October, but IATA has warned that optimism over the improvements should be balanced with caution.
The latest figures from the airline association show that cargo tonne kms (CTK) increased by 3.8% year on year in October, while capacity was up 13.1% as bellyhold operations continued to return. Read more here.

Yang Ming diverts Asia-USEC service from congested Panama Canal

Yang Ming has joined its liner peers in diverting ships from the congested Panama Canal to the Cape of Good Hope route as transit restrictions increase.
The Taiwanese mainline operator said on Monday the diversions would up the voyage time for its Asia-US east coast service to 91 days from the usual 84. Read more here (login required)
