Airline CEOs Fly In As IATA 2022 Kicks Off In Doha

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is holding its two-day annual general meeting in Doha, Qatar, on Monday and Tuesday. The in-person event attracts the movers and shakers of the airline world who’ll have plenty to talk about in the wake of COVID-19. Etihad eyes deal to take on AirBridgeCargo aircraft and staff under new entity

Secret talks are under way to save AirBridgeCargo’s fleet and staff via a deal with Etihad Cargo.
The pair are said to be looking at ways to transfer the 747 fleet to Etihad’s AOC and set up a new entity for the aircraft, with remaining crew and staff moved to Abu Dhabi and European operations relaunched. Read more here (login required).

DP World to build massive Saudi logistics park

Terminal operator DP World and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) have announced the signing of a 30-year agreement with an investment value of more than SAR500m ($133.33m) to build a logistics park at the Jeddah Islamic Port. Read more here.

MSC revamps transpac network and adds services to US east coast

As ocean carriers adjust to the coastal shift of cargo from the US west coast to the east, MSC said it was “revamping” its transpacific network with next month’s launch of its Zephyr Asia-US Gulf service.
