India braces for dock strike after JNPT truckers walk out

A COMMON front of harbour unions want solutions to “three core job issues”, on which it says authorities agreed last August, reports IHS Media.
Now the union threatens a nationwide strike from May 28, increasing pressure on authorities to find a solution to the truckers dispute at Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), where a new logistics reform resulted in a recent four-day truck stoppage.
Union dockers seek higher wages and benefits they say have not been revised since the expiration of the previous contract in December 2016.

Truck Drivers Protest Rising Fuel Prices in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Truck drivers across Brazil plan to block for the second day major highways across the country to protest the rising fuel prices. The Brazilian Truck Drivers Association (ABCAM) argues that 42 percent of their transport costs is fuel and want the government to subsidize taxes placed on diesel fuel for the sector.
